JMSB placed fourth at Royal Roads International Business Case
Competition
March 16-18, 2006 - The John Molson School of Business
team finished fourth at the 2006 Royal Roads International Business Case Competition
in Victoria, British Columbia. The JMSB team consisted of Natalie Douranos, Fadi
Hmeidan, Nicholas Kepper and Kevin LeBlanc. This year's team was coached by JMSB's
Patrick Kelley and Mark Haber as well as veteran competitors Steven Bento and Cameron
Fortin.
Royal Roads is an undergraduate case competition where participants present solutions
to cases based on local and international firms. Thirteen Canadian and U.S universities
were invited to participate in this round robin style competition. Participating
schools included the University of Southern California (Marshall School of Business),
Royal Roads University, University of Victoria, British Columbia Institute of Technology
(BCIT) and Simon Fraser University.
After a slow start in the first round, the JMSB team found its groove with two
consecutive first place wins in the second and third rounds to finish fourth overall.
The presentations were ranked by a panel of judges based on six key criteria:
- identification of key issues
- qualitative and quantitative analysis
- evaluation of alternative solutions
- recommendations and implementation
- ability to defend and clarify decisions
- presentation form and styl
Royal Roads University was the the winner of this competition, with Guelph Humber
finishing second and Kwantlen University finishing third.
