Fellowships & Awards
First Year Support
An Entry Grant of $12 000 ($1000/month) is available to any student who does not receive any other form of financial support during the first three semesters of coursework, conditional upon the availability of funds and the student remaining in good academic standing.
Thesis SupportStudents may apply for a Thesis Grant of up to $4000 upon completion of their Thesis Proposal Defence.
Travel PolicyStudents who present a paper at a refereed academic conference may request funding of up to $1200 per annum. Depending on departmental budget, funding may be limited. Conference trip expenses eligible for coverage include travel costs, conference fees, and accommodations.
PhD Teaching AssistantshipsStudents are discouraged from working during their first year in the program. Teaching Assistantship positions (two courses per academic year) are available only to PhD students in Phases II and III.
Students are expected to register for a minimum course load of three graduate-level courses or the equivalent per semester. Summers are to be used for research and comprehensive examination preparations. Students are not permitted to work more than 10 to15 hours per week outside of their program.

John Molson School of Business Awards
- National Bank Fellowships:
Two fellowships of $20 000 CAD per year for the first three years in the program. They are awarded annually to new PhD in Business Administration students in the Finance Option.
- Humberto Santos Graduate Award:
$12,000 CAD for one year.
- John Molson School of Business Entrance Scholarships:
Two $15,000 CAD per year for the first three years of the program.
Concordia University Awards
- Concordia Fellowships:
$3,600 CAD per term for a maximum of nine terms.
- International Tuition Fee Remissions:
Reduction of tuition to Canadian fees for international students.
- Power Corporation Fellowship:
$5,000 CAD for one year.
- Harriet & Abe Gold Entrance Bursary:
$1,000 CAD for one year.
- Fonds québecois de la recherche sur la société et la culture (FQRSC):
$20,000 CAD per year for the first three years in the program. Please visit the FQRSC website for more information.
- Fonds québecois de la recherche sur la nature et la technologie (NATEQ-formerly FCAR):
$20,000 CAD per year for the first three years in the program. Please visit the NATEQ website for more information.
- Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC):
$19,000 CAD per year for the first four years in the program. Please visit the SSHRC website for more information.
