Curriculum
Students with an undergraduate business degree may qualify for the accelerated MBA, which reduces the number of required credits from 57 to 45.
The first part of the MBA program is made up of 13 core courses, which provide students with an integrated body of basic practical skills. Each core course is worth 3 credits, for a total of 39 credits.
In the second part of the program, students must complete 18 credits by choosing a variety of elective courses, and/or out-of-classroom activities. Each elective course is worth 3 credits. The out-of-classroom activities may be worth 3 or 6 credits, please refer to the list of options.

| MBA Case Competition Senior Organizers (6 credits) Four students are selected to organize and run the yearly John Molson MBA International Case Competition. MBA Case Competition Executives (3 credits) Four students are selected yearly as special assistants to the senior organizers. Their responsibilities are to help the organizers in well-defined roles. Research Paper (6 credits) Students can select a topic of their choice and work one-on-one with a professor on a research paper. Currently, Zenergy Communications is offering a $2,000 Best Paper Award for those writing in the area of environmental sustainability. Small Business Consulting Bureau (3 credits) Students can be selected to be part of the MBA Small Business Consulting Bureau. MBA Community Service Initiative: Internship (3 credits) This new and exciting element was added to the MBA program in 2009. Students provide in-depth consulting for credit, primarily in the not-for-profit sector. Electives Outside of JMSBThe maximum number of elective courses taken outside JMSB for which students receive credit towards their MBA diploma is equivalent of 15 credit-hours. Application for taking courses outside JMSB should be submitted well in advance of course start date, as authorization from the MBA Program Director and School of Graduate Studies, as well as the external Faculty/School is required. Undergraduate courses are not credited towards JMSB graduate degrees. |
