A look at the more forward-looking approaches to company measurement and investing, from a senior representative of Trucost.  Trucost provide the backbone to the Newsweek Green Rankings of the world's largest companies, from its leading comprehensive database on the environmental impacts of business.  Our recent UN Report on Ecosystems Damage and Universal Owners also received much acclaim, and will be reviewed extensively.

Cary Krosinsky - Sustainable Investing & Trucost

Cary Krosinsky

Cary Krosinsky is a Senior at Trucost in North America, where he maintains a comprehensive database of the environmental impacts of global business. This data forms a rigorous baseline useful for both measuring the environmental sustainability of portfolios, as well as managing the supply chains of cities, universities, public & private companies and federal agencies. His data is once again a key feature of the Newsweek Green Rankings in 2010. He is teaching again in 2011 at the University of Maryland's Smith School of Business and Columbia University's Earth Institute as regards Sustainability & Investing, the more positive strand of socially responsible investing. He has a second book in the works for Wiley, highlighting case studies of investing successfully with a sustainability lens, featuring cameos from leading thinkers, and a working title: Sustainable Investment - How to Invest in a Changing World.

He is also a member of the 70 person Expert Group that helped oversee and create the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). Also, he originally worked in collaboration with Trucost in 2005 on their Sustainable City award winning Carbon Footprint study of UK portfolios, as well as the IFC-sponsored Carbon Counts Asia report in 2007, released at the UN's Bali meetings.

He worked with CNBC, the Wall Street Journal, the LA Times and other global media regarding environmental subject matter, and serves as a leading interpreter of equity ownership. Frequent speaker and blogger at GreenBiz.com.
