May 14: Metro Montreal - L’avenir sous le signe de la décroissance. Métro Montréal interviews Paul Shrivastava, director of Concordia’s David O’Brien Centre for Sustainable Enterprise, regarding the international conference Degrowth for the Americas, hosted jointly by Concordia, HEC Montréal, McGill University, Université de Montréal and UQAM. The team representing Concordia’s John Molson School of Business won the compétition de la relève publicitaire organized as part of the Strat contest. The Strat contest is an initiative of the Association des professionnels de la communication et du marketing.

May 11: Journal de Montréal - Philippe Beaudry suit les traces de son père. Finance student Philippe Beaudry will once again represent Canada in fencing at the summer Olympic Games. He is also profiled in Canoe and Le Journal de Québec.

May 10: Info Presse - Le Grand Prix Strat 2012 revient à Cossette et Home Depot. The Eurêka! Solutions team, composed of Concordia students Amber Cochrane, Mélissa Ferrara, Joëlle Gourdji, Alexandra Heiman, Ashley McDonough, Simon Weber and of Harold Simpkins, a professor in the Department of Marketing in the John Molson School of Business, won the Strat contest in the category compétition de la relève publicitaire. The Strat contest is organized by the Association des professionnels de la communication et du marketing.

May 9: TVA Nouvelles - Complexe Rive-Sud «Le plus gros au Québec». Benito Aloe, a lecturer in the Department of Management in the John Molson School of Business, comments on the construction of Complexe Rive-Sud, a sports centre that will be located in Delson.

April 26: CJAD 800 AM - Harold Simpkins, a professor in the Department of Marketing at the John Molson School of Business, discussed shock advertising on CJAD’s Ric Peterson show yesterday.

April 24: Métro Montréal - Publicités de la CSST : Du sang et des drames pour sensibiliser. Métro Montréal features a piece on the new ad campaign of the Commission de la santé et sécurité au travail. Harold Simpkins, a professor in the Department of Marketing in the John Molson School of Business, explains that ads use more graphic images to counter public desensitization.

April 24: The Times of India - Bad job drains you emotionally. April 20: Money News - New light on strategic communications. Concordia’s John Molson School of Business announced the launch of the Luc Beauregard Centre of Excellence in Communications Research on April 19. The centre, which is the first of its kind in a Canadian business school, aims to provide a better understanding of the role of communications in business. April 20: Conseiller - Formation sur la gouvernance des PME. Anne-Marie Croteau, a professor in the Department of Decision Sciences and Management Information Systems in the John Molson School of Business, will moderate a training workshop on governance of small and medium sized businesses. Organized by the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés, the event will take place in Quebec City, May 10-11.

April 18: La Presse - A special feature on MBAs appears in this morning’s edition of La Presse. The MBA program offered at Concordia’s John Molson School of Business (JMSB) is featured in a number of articles. Alan Hochstein, the interim dean of JMSB, is quoted in two articles: Cadres occupés cherchent horaires souples; Et le salaire?; Programmes contingentés ou pas?; Tout petit, la planète!

April 12: The Financial Post - Productivity often hindered by teamwork. The Financial Post mentions a 2010 study co-authored by Tracy Hecht,  a professor in the Department of Management in the John Molson School of Business. The study questions whether or not team work, such as brainstorming, offers performance advantages compared to combining the results from the labour of individuals working alone.

April 4: The Huffington Post - Job Burnout Could Be Caused By Obligation Or Lack Of Choice. A study co-authored by Alexandra Panaccio, a professor in the Department of Management in the John Molson School of Business, shows that employees who stay in an organization out of a sense of obligation or for lack of alternatives are more likely to experience emotional exhaustion. April 3: The Globe and Mail - Boss can break the chain that leads to stress. The Globe and Mail features an article about ways employers can contribute to a lower stress level among their staff. Steven Appelbaum, a management professor in the John Molson School of Business, comments on the influence of technology on the stress level of today’s employees.

March 29: CJAD 800 AM - The Aaron Rand Show. Bruno Delorme, a marketing lecturer in the John Molson School of Business, was on CJAD’s The Aaron Rand Show on March 29 to discuss the firing of Montreal Canadian general manager Pierre Gauthier (scroll down to the March 29 podcast, coverage appears at 36 minutes).

March 28: Ottawa Citizen - Hot cars make men more manly, study shows. Results of the latest research by Gad Saad, a professor in the Department of Marketing at the John Molson School of Business are described in the Ottawa Citizen. Saad co-authored a study that found men’s testosterone levels rose after driving high-performance vehicles.

March 23: Les Affaires - Premier prix à l'École de relations industrielles de l'Université de Montréal. The team from Concordia’s John Molson School of Business placed second at the 26th edition of Excalibur, a Canadian university tournament in human resources.

March 22: Jobboom - Les consommateurs s’unissent! Zeynep Arsel, a marketing professor in the John Molson School of Business, explains that the internet changed the world’s relationship to property rights in Jobboom. Arsel was also interviewed by Flavorwire regarding Hipsters and their role in the American cultural landscape.

March 22: CBC Homerun - Isabelle Dostaler, management professor in the John Molson School of Business, commented the role of the Quebec government in relations to the layoffs of Aveos employees. The company, which declared insolvency, was charged with maintaining Air Canada planes. The interview aired on CBC’s Homerun on March 21.

March 16: This View of Life - Why Women Don’t Drive Ferraris, and What Men Should Do on First Dates. Marketing professor Gad Saad is interviewed.

March 13: The Globe and Mail - Can business students write? Harold Simpkins, a marketing professor in the John Molson School of Business, provides tips on how to write appropriate business emails.

March 13: The Calgary Herald - The high price of blowing the whistle. The Calgary Herald reprised an article from The Montreal Gazette regarding whistleblowers. Steven Appelbaum, a management professor in the John Molson School of Business, explains that fear of retaliation may stop certain people from whistle-blowing.

March 5: The Globe and Mail - What if it's not an iPad 3? What if it's just an iPad 2S? A study by Gary Johns, a management professor in the John Molson School of Business, is mentioned by the Globe and Mail and CTV News in stories regarding  presenteeism.

March 5: Business Insider - Gentleman Really Do Prefer Blondes. Marketing professor Gad Saad's research is cited by Business Insider.

March 2: The Victoria Times Colonist: SNC-Lavalin bosses split over payments. Michel Magnan, an accountancy professor in the John Molson School of Business, discusses an investigation undertaken by SNC-Lavalin in regards to unexplained payments traced back to its construction unit. Magnan explains why the company’s Office of the President  is seeking legal counsel. Similar stories appear on Canada.com and The Financial Post.

March 1: The National Post - SNC brass hire own counsel. Michel Magnan, an accountancy professor in the John Molson School of Business, discusses an investigation undertaken by SNC-Lavalin in regards to unexplained payments traced back to its construction unit. Magnan explains why the company’s Office of the President  is seeking legal counsel. Coverage also appeared on Canal Argent’s Nouvelles and on Radio-Canada’s Attendez qu’on se souvienne on February 29. A year after the establishment of the Unité permanente anticorruption, Magnan also explored the process of investigation into fraud in The Montreal Gazette.

February 29: Radio-Canada - Jordan LeBel, a marketing professor in the John Molson School of Business, was interviewed by Radio-Canada’s Champs Libre on February 27 regarding the use of special packaging to mark anniversaries of food companies.

February 28: Finance et Investissement - Fiera et Natcan : l'industrie réagit favorablement. Lawrence Kryzanowski, Concordia’s Ned Goodman Chair in Finance, comments on the acquisition of Natcan by Fiera Sceptre.

February 22: Embassy Magazing - Barrick Gold's cultural event sponsorship in spotlight. Shaun Lynch, a marketing instructor in the John Molson School of Business, comments on the damaging effects of being linked to a company caught in a controversy.

February 21: The Huffington Post Canada - Toronto Maple Leafs To Stay In Hands Of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. The Huffington Post Canada reprises an article from the Canadian Press featuring perspective from Bruno Delorme, a lecturer in the Marketing Department in the John Molson School of Business on the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan retaining control of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment..

February 17: Business Day - Sick and tired of absenteeism. There are ways to limit work absenteeism according to Gary Johns, a management professor in the John Molson School of Business.

February 15: TVA Nouvelles - À la rescousse des retraités. Michel Magnan, an accountancy professor in the John Molson School of Business, and colleagues from the research group CIRANO, compiled Le rapport Pensions 4-2, a document recommending the creation of a public retirement savings plan. The report, commissioned by the Quebec’s Ministry of Finance, was released last fall.

February 15: Keynotes.com - Consumerism and Human Instinct. Marketing professor Dr. Gad Saad's work and research is profile. A link to Saad's TED Talk on consumerism and evolutionary psychology is provided. Profile also appears in World News Report.

February 8: CTV News - Deal reportedly underway for famed Schwartz's Deli. Harold Simpkins, a marketing professor in the John Molson School of Business, explains that franchising famous Montreal deli Schwartz's could be lucrative for potential new owners.

February 7: CTV Montreal - Harold Simpkins, a marketing professor in the John Molson School of Business, appeared on CTV Montreal News at noon on February 6. Simpkins discussed the Plateau borough’s decision to ban all outdoor advertising. Coverage also appeared on Sympatico.ca.

February 3: CTV News - Sobey B-school finds dean at last. Concordia’s Department of Accountancy in the John Molson School of Business (JMSB) received funding from the Ordre des comptables généraux accrédités du Québec for the creation of a new research centre in accountancy. The first of its kind in Canada, the centre will help promote graduate education in the field of accountancy according to Alan Hochstein, JMSB’s interim dean. As part of Les entretiens Concordia, Zeynep Arsel, a marketing professor in the John Molson School of Business, discusses the link between self-perception and consumerism in Le Devoir.

January 27: Scientific American - Scientific American features a response to letter from a man explaining he is addicted to pornography. Excerpts from The Consuming Instinct by Gad Saad, a marketing professor in the John Molson School of Business, are used by the psychologist who drafted the response to explain the relationship between men and sexuality.

Januray 10: Yahoo! News - Fear of Being Fired Kills the American Vacation. The article examines conditions that might lead employees to cut back on vacations out of fear of losing their jobs and cites research by Gary Johns, a professor  in the Department of Management at the John Molson School of Business, on the phenomenon of “presenteeism”; a tendancy to show up at work in spite of being ill. That research found workers who were insecure about their work situation were less likely to call in sick.
