Climate Action: Mount Royal Picnic and Walk

Climate Action Mt. Royal Picnic and walk
The David O'Brien Centre for Sustainable Enterprise along with the John Molson Sustainable Business Group (JSG) organized a walk and picnic up Mount Royal on Saturday, October 24, 2009. Despite the threat of rain, close to 30 people participated in this walk and picnic in support of 350.org's Climate Action Day.

Everyone enjoyed an energetic walk up the mountain and the La Commensal picnic lunches. This picture was taken at the top of the mountain and is posted on 350.org. Through being one of the over 2,400 events held world wide in support of 350.org's Climate Action Day, the hope is that this will result in fair and strict carbon limits at the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference happening in Copenhagen, Denmark on December 7-18, 2009.

350.org is a youth organization that coordinated events to take place all over the world on Saturday, Oct 24, 2009. 350.org’s mission is to bring awareness to the fact that 350 is the number that leading scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide– measured in “Parts per Million” in our atmosphere. Climate Action Day was to bring this awareness to the public as well as to the world leaders who will be attending the UN Climate Change Conference in December.

Thank you to all those who joined us on October 24th and we look forward to providing more fun and meaningful sustainability events for the JMSB and Concordia community in the future.
