| Osman Ulas Aktas (MBA, B.Sc) is a part-time lecturer in Finance and a PhD candidate at the John Molson School of Business. Osman Ulas has taught at Concordia University Corporate Finance and Investments and Portfolio Management courses. His research interests are in the areas of corporate governance and microstructure. His has over 8 years of industry experience in banks and financial institutions in Turkey, USA and Canada as an analyst. |

Dissertation
The thesis will consist of three essays dealing with emerging firms in domestic Canadian Market and a foreign emerging market. Tow essays will examine the relationship between the costs of equity for Canadian PMEs and corporate governance with controls such as PME cross-listing status, and how the idiosyncratic risk of publicly traded Canadian PMEs has evolved over time. The third essay will examine the various aspects of the market microstructure of the emerging market in Turkey using a proprietary database including all quotes and trades for a recent 3-year period.Teaching
