At the John Molson School of Business (JMSB), you learn just as much outside the classroom as inside the classroom, if you allow yourself to do so. You will find professors who challenge you beyond what you believe to be your limits but who simultaneously are pushing for you to succeed! Outside of the classroom, there are so many outlets available for students to get involved, such as the MBA Society, Women in Business and, of course, the International Case Competition! I also feel that the community of students here is very supportive, especially the more senior students, who not only help you academically but encourage you to enjoy the program as well. My experience here has been one of not only academic development but personal as well and I am proud to be a JMSB student! I graduated from Concordia with a BA in English Literature in 1995. When I decided to return 13 years later after pursuing a career in information technology, the school began integrating me and passing vital information about my classes online to help me get started. As a part-time student in my first year, it was easy to juggle my work and school schedules thanks to the flexibility that Concordia offers. I was impressed enough with my teachers and fellow students that I decided to dive in and become a full-time student again. The MBA does a great job combining the academic elements of business theory with its application in real life. I’ve been able to look back upon my past work experience with new eyes. The knowledge I am getting could have improved many problems from the past, but better yet, I take comfort in knowing that JMSB is equipping me to tackle the even bigger challenges of the future. Having done engineering in my undergrad in India, and having worked for
two years in the fast-paced IT industry, I came to JMSB with a lot of
high expectations. It has been a very enlightening and knowledge-gaining
experience. The case study based approach that is followed in most of
the courses is something that gives me a firsthand experience in trying
to solve real life cases. Additionally, the many student clubs and
societies give a great opportunity to network and exhibit leadership and
organizational skills within the university. Being a highly
career-driven erson, I am confident that JMSB is the right step towards
achieving my life dreams and having the career that I always wanted. Srikanth Sekar MBA Candidate 2011 Most Recently Held Position: Software Developer HCL Technologies, India |
