Lawrence Bloomberg Endowed Chair in Accountancy

Mission Statement

The Lawrence Bloomberg Chair in Accountancy provides leadership, within the John Molson School of Business and the Department of Accountancy , in research and other scholarly activities on issues and topics that are relevant to accountants and to the accounting profession. The Lawrence Bloomberg Chair in Accountancy is Dr. Michel Magnan.

Objectives

The Lawrence Bloomberg Chair in Accountancy intends to achieve leadership in accounting research and scholarly activities through the following means:

  • Pursuit of an active research program resulting in refereed publications and in conference presentations, nationally and internationally;
  • Involvement in learned organizations and in academic and professional journals;
  • Supervision of graduate students;
  • Mentoring of junior faculty members, through advice and/or financial support;
  • Enhancement of the ties between the John Molson School of Business and the professional accounting and business communities;
  • Organization of a annual public event on a topical issue that is relevant to the accounting profession;
  • Development of teaching material such as cases.
