A. Bakr Ibrahim

Professor, Department of Management

Dr. A.B. Ibrahim has over 20 years of senior administrative experience in academia as Acting Dean, Associate Dean of various portfolios, Department Chair and Director Centre for Small Business & Entrepreneurial Studies. Prior to his academic career he has held several executive positions in industry after he won a Ford Foundation Fellowship to pursue his MBA.

Dr. Ibrahim has research interest in entrepreneurship, small and family business as well as strategic management. He is the author of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, 4th edition revised (2006) published by Kendall/Hunt, Iowa; Strategic Management, 1992.

Published by McGraw-Hill; Family Business Management, 2ed revised edition, 2006, published by Kendall/Hunt, Iowa; Entrepreneurial Studies,3rd edition, 1999, published by the Canadian Institute of Bankers; Strategic Management and Control, 1997 ,published by CGA and Risk Evaluation of Technology Based SMEs,2ed ,1999 , published by the Institute of Canadian Bankers. He has also published many chapters in books and volumes and over 25 training books.

Dr. Ibrahim's research has been published in the Journal of Small Business Management, Journal of Small Business Strategy , Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice/American Journal of Small Business , Academy of Management Executive ,Family business Review, Business Horizon, Family Business Case Annual, FORUM, International Journal of Management Cases, Journal of Education and Training, Journal of Export ,International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior and Research, Journal of Strategic Direction, Management International , journal of Small Business and Entrepreneurship , Annual Editions in Management and Journal of General Management. He has also been a key note speaker to major conferences, in entrepreneurship, small and family business and has presented many papers in conferences world wide. He is the recipient of the Best Empirical Paper from the International Academy of Business Disciplines.

Dr. Ibrahim is the Editor, of the Journal of Accounting and Business Research, Associate Editor, International Journal of Entrepreneurship & Small Business and a member of the editorial board of the Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences. He has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Small Business Management and the journal of Small Business and Entrepreneurship. He has also served on Industry Canada Research Advisory Committee on Entrepreneurship and Small Business since its inception in 1996 and has worked as advisor and consultant for community development programs, NGOs, governments, CIDA, small and family firms as well as examiner for many graduate programs. He is the founder of the Small Business Consulting Bureau and the Dobson Mentorship Program for Technology-Based Entrepreneurs.
