The John Molson Sports Marketing Committee (JMSM), a student-run committee at Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business will be holding its 16th Annual Sports Business Conference from November 10 to November 12, 2011. The three-day event, which is the largest student-run sports business conference in Canada, will host 175 business students from across the country and will welcome an impressive roster of guest speakers willing to share their insights into the sports industry. In addition to attending the interactive panel discussions, student delegates participating in the event will have the opportunity to put their knowledge, their intellect and their passion to good use during a challenging and exciting case competition. The theme of this year’s conference is From Passion to Profit. Sports fans are passionate consumers and one would be hard-pressed to find a business where passion affects buying patterns more than it does in sports. The theme is meant to explore how sports executives capitalize on the passion of consumers to ensure the continuity of their brands, and to provide students with some insights as to how they can leverage their passion for sport for the purpose of building a financially viable career. Among this year’s invitees is JMSB alumnus Julien Brisebois, who is currently Assistant General Manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning. He will participate in a panel discussion on Friday, November 11 which will also include:
Other speakers will be NHL agent, Don Meehan, the Director of UFC Canada, Tom Wright and the President of S.O.S. Media, Sunny Pathak. |
