Students in Free Enterprise Regional Championships

March 14, 2008 - The Concordia Entrepreneurship and Management Association (CEMA) and official Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) team won second place and a thousand dollar prize at the SIFE Regional Championships in Toronto.


The team competed in League B of the Financial Literacy Challenge category against seven other teams including Ryerson and Bishops University. Toronto University won first place in League A while York University won first place in League B.


cema2008.jpgThe team, consisting of Jonathan O' Connell, Amanda Paquin and Jalal Hasbini, presented CEMA's primary community outreach program, RISE, aimed at educating high school students in entrepreneurship and finance. Supporting team members included Terence Richardson, Jimmy Bakakis, Karin McCullock and Jessica Brasil. The team was coached by Eric Pelsise, Fadi Abu Shakra and faculty advisor Tom O'Connell. The thousand dollar prize will be reinvested the association's SIFE programs.


The team now move on to the next level of the competition, the 2008 ACE National Exposition taking place in Toronto on May 12-14.
