Two accounting teams from the John Molson School of Business (JMSB) competed in the third annual inter-collegiate Brock University Accounting Conference. And they did not return empty-handed.
The JMSB team of Phoebe Li, Tarun Suri, Veronica Perez and Mariann Rossi finished an impressive second overall, while a second team composed of Ranjit Girn, Eric Mcdonald,Lucy Keuyalian and Greg Synanidis, was eliminated by the eventual winners from University of Saskatchewan. University of Ontario Institute of Technology finished third.
This was JMSB’s second time attending the conference, which is growing every year. This year, the event expanded to 14 senior teams and added a junior division. Coach Patrick Gagnon, who accompanied the delegation, noted that “Niagara Falls is a great place in which to host a competition,” and that it “brought out the best performances in our two teams.” Gagnon also explained that the organizers of the conference were impressed by JMSB’s history of case competition success, recalling last year’s competition when the team took home the gold. “They have already expressed hope that we come back next year,” he said.
The John Molson Competition Committee (JMCC) would like to congratulate both teams on their performances and to thank coaches Gail Fayerman, Basel Arafe, Patrick Gagnon, Audrey Landry, Martina Petrova and June Svetlovsky for turning our students into successful competitors. Special thanks to head coach and Advisor to the Undergraduate Competition Program Mark Haber for his dedication and contributions to the case competition program.
The Committee also extends a very special thanks to its exclusive sponsor, Pfizer Canada for their support and encouragement of the case competition program.
