Students Adam Forlini, Isabella Matteo, Alexander Robinson and Shireen Salehi represented Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business at the second annual Alberta Energy Challenge Case Competition in Edmonton, Alberta. Twelve teams segmented into 3 groups of 4 students. Three teams were selected to move on to the final round.

The case this year was on Suncor Energy. The teams had 38 hours to prepare a solution and presentation for the case. Teams got the chance to have a Q & A with Suncor executives and a 30 minute consulting period with an industry expert. The team presented a strong 160 slide presentation detailing every aspect of building a solid foundation for Suncor’s future and realigning the company’s assets with its core vision. While the John Molson team’s performance was stellar, the team did not reach the final round.

Final competition results were as follows:
  1. University of Alberta (team #1)
  2. University of Saskatchewan
  3. University of Alberta (team #2)

The team thanks Amr Ezzat, who coached each member into very successful competitors. Special thanks to the Head Coach Mark Haber for his support of the competition program.

The team would also like to express deep gratitude to sponsor MacDougall, MacDougall, & MacTier for their support and encouragement of the case competition program.
