JMSB proudly returns from Maastricht competition

JMSB competitors Dany Asad, Anum Siddiqui, Stephanie Laurin and Hadi Azar (DASH Consulting), returned from the International Case Competition at Masstricht (ICC), with heads held high

May 25, 2011- JMSB competitors Dany Asad, Anum Siddiqui, Stephanie Laurin and Hadi Azar (DASH Consulting), returned from the International Case Competition at Maastricht (ICC), with heads held high. They delivered stunning performances throughout the competition and earned a solid fourth place finish.

Similar to our very own John Molson Undergraduate Competition, ICC challenged sixteen universities around the world with two, three hour cases and one 24 hour case.  The scores for each case were broken down into percentage totals of 20 and 60 percent.

Teams had the opportunity to work on cases such as:
  • 20%  The Future of Hugo Boss Fragrances under Proctor & Gamble
  • 20%  Amrath Grand Hotel de L’Emperor Maastricht - A Fruitful Future
  • 60%  Timberland Investments in an Asset Liability Framework – Exploring a New Investment Opportunity?

In JMSB’s division, there were participants from Bocconi University (Italy), Karachi (Pakistan) and Maastricht (Holland). JMSB was the only team to win all their cases in their division of the entire competition, putting them in the lead up to the final.  In the finals, JMSB missed the podium by a fraction of a score placing the team in a respectable fourth position.

Overall, JMSB was noted for their strong performances, compelling presentations and realistic recommendations for the cases; some of which may be used in the future by sponsors of the competition.

The final results were:
  1. University of Porto
  2. University of Florida
  3. Simon Fraser University
  4. John Molson School of Business, Concordia University

A big thank you goes to coaches Tim Field and Cleo Roch for taking the team to a level that impressed people from all over the world. A special thank you to Head Coach Mark Haber who traveled with the team, and stood as the team’s pillar when the stakes were high.

A very special thank you to our exclusive sponsor, Pfizer Canada, as well as solutioncellulaire.ca, Concessionnaire Autorisé Rogers, for their support and encouragement of the case competition program.
