JMSB PhD Student Wins IAHRR Best Master's Thesis Award

July 15, 2010 - Management PhD student Guillaume Pain was recently recognized with the International Alliance for Human Resources Research Best Master's Thesis Award. His submission, "Organizational Learning: Bridging Theory to Practice", won praise from the committee and a cash grant of $2,000. The award is sponsored by the Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario.

Pain was delighted to learn that he won the award earlier this summer. "It's a an honour to receive the IAHRR Best Master's Thesis Award from an established institution. This is a great reward for the hard work and for overcoming the academic challenges. It's also a great sign of encouragement to persevere in my research," Pain says. He adds: "I interpret this award as a sign that Organizational Learning still receives significant attention from academics and practitioners. As such, it does impact the subject matter of my current and future research projects."

Pain has been active in various areas of sustainable development for the last twelve years and plans to pursue these areas during his PhD studies. His recent research projects include work on organizational learning, knowledge management, sustainable development, institutionalism, stakeholder theory and network theory.
