This spring, Concordia University's Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team, run by the Concordia Entrepreneurship and Management Association (CEMA), took part in the Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE) Central Canada Exposition. The Concordia SIFE team competed with universities and colleges from across Ontario and Quebec on March 8, 2010.

As a global network of teams, SIFE empowers students to improve and develop their communities. Members apply business concepts and develop outreach projects that improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need. Teams are evaluated on the impact of these projects in their communities. Judges assess the quality of proposals with the following criteria: Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, Environmental Sustainability and Business Ethics.

The strong results and significant impact of the team's projects were commended by the SIFE judging panel, consisting of CEOs and executives from Canada's leading corporations. The performance earned the team first runner up in the Scotiabank Sustainability Challenge and a second place finish at the TD Entrepreneurship Challenge.

With two finalist trophies in hand, SIFE Concordia celebrated its best regional competition to date. The team is already preparing for next year's Regional exposition and the 2011 ACE National exposition. At this year's National exposition in May, the team earned a top 10 placement for a second consecutive year.
