JMSB Top in Québec and Second in Canada in Corporate Social Responsibility Survey
May 6, 2005 - For the second year in a row, John Molson School of Business ranked first in Québec and second in Canada in the latest Corporate Social Responsibility survey of Canadian business schools published by Corporate Knights Magazine.
This
survey, in which 34 Canadian business schools participated, evaluates
how well social and environmental impact management are integrated into
their curricula. This ranking is based on a modified version of the
US-based Beyond Grey Pinstripes, which evaluates MBA programs around the world in terms of environmental and social impact management. The Knights School survey takes it a step further by evaluating both the Canadian MBA and undergraduate programs.
The criteria were based on the following:
- Institutional Support – seminars, internship programs, endowed chairs, scholarships, student competitions and school-based centres and institutes.
- Student-led initiatives – student clubs and group.
- Course Work – required end elective courses, joint degrees and specializations.
The
JMSB undergraduate program ranked among the top ten schools in the
Institutional Support and the Student-led initiatives categories. JMSB
also scored very well in the Best Practices category for programs that
focus on minority and black community development in Montreal.
Schulich placed first, with JMSB beating such other top performers as University of Calgary, University of Alberta, McGill University, UQAM, University of Ottawa, HEC-Montréal, Université de Sherbrooke, and Royal Roads.
