Calories for a Cause: JMSB's Bake Sale for Haiti Relief Raises Over $4000!

January 28, 2010 – JMSB is delighted to announce that Calories for a Cause: JMSB’s Bake Sale for Haiti Relief raised $4031.08. The massive bake sale held on Tuesday January 26, 2010 in the lobby of the Molson building brought together the talents of bakers and the sweet appetites of buyers to raise funds destined for the Canadian arm of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
The event was inspired by the example of Concordia’s University Communications Services (UCS) department who held a bake sale a week earlier in support of MSF. The team then went on to challenge other departments to pull together and get involved, which is exactly what the students, faculty and staff of JMSB decided to do!
The generosity of everyone involved was further encouraged by the Canadian Government’s current pledge to match dollar for dollar every donation made to pre-approved aid organizations which means MSF will receive $8,062.16 as a result of the community’s dedication.
Thank you
"The Calories for a Cause bake sale was a great success and I am proud of the compassion and efforts by the JMSB community to help the Haiti earthquake victims. I wish to thank our students, faculty and staff for their contributions and collective support," said Dean Sanjay Sharma earlier today.Thank you to all of the members of the JMSB community who put on their aprons and baked until the late hours of the night; as a result of your contribution we had more than enough baked goods to make it through the entire day with an amazing selection of goodies, the tables were never bare. A special thank you to the volunteers who helped set-up and sell all of our tasty treats. To all those who bought goodies and donated money, we truly appreciate you putting your new year’s resolutions on hold and digging deep into your pockets to help us exceed our targets.
We could not have raised nearly as much without the generous support of our local businesses; that got involved. Thank you to:
