Thirteen JMSB students were part of the regional Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team that represented Concordia at the Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE) 2012 SIFE Regional Competition in Toronto on March 11 and 12.
The JMSB contingent was comprised of Gabriel Obadia, William Atsaidis, Philip Barrar, Claudia Bertuccini, Scott Carr, Maya Chopova, Nathan Teixeira-Crisostomo, Macey Dames, Nickolas Lépine, Julie Marin, Nancy Peng, Isabelle Sauvé, Salvatore Tedone and Faculty Advisor, Ron Abraira.
The competition was focused on entrepreneurship, financial literacy and environmental sustainability. Teams were evaluated based on how their activities contribute their community.
The team’s spirited performance earned them second place finishes in the Capital One Financial Literacy and the Scotiabank Go Green Challenge categories. This enabled the team to advance to the SIFE National Competition which will be held in Calgary this coming May.
Software Engineering Co-op student, Marc-André Moreau was presented with the “2012 Student Entrepreneur Regional Champion” award for Central Canada for his open source software consulting business, Awake Coding Consulting. Moreau will also move on to compete in Calgary.
